ABOUT BREE
BREE WOLF is a USA Today bestselling author and award-winning word wizard, who is rarely seen without a book in hand or fingers glued to the keyboard.
He gambled on love once; the stakes are higher now.
England 1803: Troy Beaumont, sole heir to the Earl of Whickerton, once took a gamble on love and ended up with a heart in arrears. Now, driven by duty and the whispers of society, he contemplates a marriage of convenience, setting aside his family's fairy-tale ideal of marrying for love. He'd much prefer the life of a bachelor, but knows duty calls louder than desire. The question isn't just whom to marry, but can he marry without love?
She thought her heart was dead; she was wrong.
Lady Leonora, better known as Nora, survived a loveless marriage only to be branded a widow. Her heart, once bustling with youthful dreams, now feels like a quiet spectator in her life—until fate shoves her right back in front of the very man who once held its reins.
Thought he was done with love? So did he.
Their surprise reunion sparks more than just old friendship. Troy's once composed heart can't help but recall the melody of Nora's laughter, and the mischievous twinkle in her eye tempts him to reconsider the notion of love.
Nora, feeling her heart skip and stumble, wonders why it chooses now to dance again, especially when a future together seems fraught with complications. After all, Troy needs an heir, and she cannot provide one.
Once friends, once more. Is third time the charm?
InD'tale MagazineThe love scenes are tastefully done and romantic. Fans of Regency romance will enjoy the familiar nuances of the book, as well as the touch of whimsy added by Edie's efforts to aid in her family's happiness.
★★★★★RebeccaThis whole series has been a joy to read. The characters are full of life. The relationships do not always go smoothly. But love triumphs in the end.
★★★★★Sher ParkerThis series has just kept getting better book by book and for me this one was the BEST of them so far! At times I cried and felt just so uncomfortable that I was stressed out but I kept reading and this wonderful author Bree Wolf took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride to what I THOUGHT was going to be the end of this series! I'm so glad it's not!
★★★★★B. tafuniBree Wolf always writes a wonderfully warm, family centered romance. She brings out the best in people!
BREE WOLF is a USA Today bestselling author and award-winning word wizard, who is rarely seen without a book in hand or fingers glued to the keyboard.
One kiss changed everything but too late to stop Nora marrying another. Now Nora is a widow but Troy is loath to risk his heart again and in Nora’s mind there is an insurmountable problem to their ever being together. However neither of them have taken Grandma Edie into account!
A friends-to-more romance between Troy Beaumont, Earl of Whickerton, and Lady Nora who grew up together and were friends until their first kiss. Unfortunately, that kiss occurred just before Nora married another. Neither of them can forget that kiss or each other. Nora returns home after her husband dies, runs into Troy at the place of their first kiss. Troy had a way of pushing others away and holding them at arm's length; he filled the title of Earl of Whickerton well. He watched his sisters all marry, and the Whickerton household was filled with family. But he wanted more. Nora and Troy reacquaint secretly, fall deeper in love, but she cannot marry him because of a secret she holds. But then what she thinks to be "impossible" happens! A wonderful swoon-worthy love story. I enjoyed becoming reacquainted with previous family members and friends, new babies born, and--most fun of all--Grandma Edie! A delightful Regency romance! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review. I'm looking forward to the mysterious Keir MacKinnear's story soon!
“No one should have to live without love in their life.” Indeed, The Whickerton family’s number 1 rule, Whickerton’s marry for love. Troy lost his love 5 years ago when she married another. Nora also lost her love that day, honouring a promise made while her heart belonged to Troy. Missed opportunities sometimes come full circle, and when Nora is widowed and returns home, Troy has the chance to change their past.
Bree Wolf has a way of writing characters that take root in your soul. You cannot help but feel for them, feel with them. After 7 stories of Whickertons, I thought I had come to know this family. I was completely unprepared for some of the revelations that came out in this story. A history we thought we understood, completely turned on it’s head. This made the story remarkably compelling. I expected the truly heart-wrenching story that would bound to come in Troy & Nora. After the conclusion of the last book, we knew certain expectations, but I was completely taken aback by a few surprises. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and this family and am grateful that we are not through with this group just yet. Cannot wait to read the next instalment of the Whickertons.
Rowan and Isabella’s story is a little strange for the time period and I completely enjoyed it. Well written with interesting characters and an outrageous plot. This story includes some fun bits and steam. Another fine addition to the series from this author.
This instalment covers the twins finding their futures while saving their brother from being blackmailed into marrying someone he does not love. Will Isabella be able to steal the evidence and accept gossip is not her whole life. Will Rowan realise what is in front of him & accept he is worthy of the place his adopted family have gifted him. I found this a really fun witty story. Isabella is quick of mind and saves the situation often, and the steam is also there between her and Rowan. Even the sneezing attacks was charming. Really enjoyed this story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love this series, A Gentleman's Guide to Courtship, not only for its ironically-named sub-title, but also for its humor and heart. The Duke of Clearford, creator of the "guide" has pretty much given up on advising potential suitors how to court his sisters. The first three are married, and now it's Isabella's turn. Like the others, she's not particularly interested in marriage--and why would she be when she already has so much freedom?
Rowan Haws is not interested in marriage either, but a potential business deal requires marriage, so he convinces Isabella to play the part of his wife. This ends with predictable results. The way that Isabella can bend the rules of society to pull off this deception is what I find especially surprising.
Lane’s books are always filled with laughs, clever dialogue, and intense sex scenes. Her complex characters always experience transformations. Isabella and Rowan are no exception. Isabella learns she can relinquish the need to control everything because Rowan will be there to keep her safe. Rowan, who had vowed not to marry, takes a bit longer to transform. He needs to see himself as worthy of Isabella and accept the love and acceptance that has been offered to him by his adoptive parents. Then, he needs to face his fears of rejection from the upper classes. Yes, some will reject him, but he doesn’t need their acceptance. Isabella and the very large extended family forming around her will accept him with open arms as soon as he stops hiding. And as long as he has her, he can withstand the disapproval from those who don’t matter.
I love this author and her wild creativity. A story filled with steam, gossip, chemistry, secrets, wit, and more. It just sizzles!
Rowan has an instant attraction to Isabella. She's a lady pretending to be a maid. Rowan is a bachelor who wants to own an inn but who must marry first to have a chance at it.
What starts out as a pretend marriage turns into opportunities of a lifetime. The characters are amazing and outstanding. The story is so engaging that I couldn't put it down. Don't miss this one, you will really regret it.
Lady Isabella Merriweather hoards gossip like dragon’s gold, especially now that her brother Samuel the Duke of Clearford’s happiness is at stake. She’ll do anything to ensure he marries the right woman, even donning a maid’s uniform and challenging a mysterious hotelier who wants her to be his wife. Rowan Trent needs a pretend bride, not a real one as he’s busy buying a new inn, a deal in danger when the owner refuses to sell to a bachelor.
The fifth book in the series but it’s easily read on its own. Another absolute delight I loved both Rowan & Isabella & thoroughly enjoyed their journey to a HEA, witty banter, sizzling chemistry made for a book I found very hard to put down & I devoured it in two sittings
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
