BREE WOLF is a USA Today bestselling author and award-winning word wizard, who is rarely seen without a book in hand or fingers glued to the keyboard.
She writes the unwritten …
England, 1802: Daughter to the EARL OF WHICKERTON, Lady Leonora has an insatiable curiosity about the human condition. At every ball and social event, while others dance and flirt, Leonora observes, her trusted notebook in hand. She is captivated by the silent language of glances and gestures, recording the subtle tells of human nature. But her keen interest in the unspoken soon teaches her a chilling lesson: not all smiles are friendly, and the greatest deceits are dressed in charm.
… he rights the wrongs.
Haunted by his past and cloaked in regret, Drake Shaw, Marquess of Pemberton, leads a dual existence. By day, a gentleman; by night, a vigilante, targeting dishonorable men who escape justice. His life is a ceaseless quest for redemption, driven by the shadows of his mistakes. Drake's world is black and white until he meets a young lady who colors it with intrigue. Leonora, vulnerable yet undeniably brave, disrupts his vendetta, making him question if revenge is truly what his heart desires.
When curiosity meets vengeance, the real story begins.
When Leonora's curiosity draws her into danger, crossing paths with Drake’s underworld of revenge, both must confront their inner demons. Drake finds himself protecting the very spirit he admires, while Leonora learns that the most compelling stories are found not in her notebook, but in living them.
A leap of faith: all or nothing.
Together, they must navigate a perilous society where secrets abound and trust is a rare commodity. As they draw closer, they discover that understanding human nature might just be the key to unlocking their own hearts. Will their joint journey through darkness lead them to light, or will old enemies and familiar fears dictate their fate?

If you ever dreamed of being protected by a tall, dark and handsome man- this is the story for you! While some would believe that women don’t need men, I think this story shows an absolutely lovely side of protection and love. Though Leonora made a mistake, she leans on a total stranger who is willing to protect her no matter the cost. She learns how to be strong from him, both physically and mentally. Drake, being chased by his own demons, opens up to Leonora as never before and the result is a love story I will not soon forget. The climax is EXTREMELY satisfying and the villain doesn’t even know what hits him. I love this family and these stories!
Leonora is haunted by the incident which happened months ago but knows she must rejoin society. On first meeting Drake Pemberton her reaction to him is similar to any man outside of her family but something changes, he seems to understand her and quickly becomes someone she feels safe with. As time goes by he helps her feel stronger and regain her self-confidence. Can there be more between them? Loved the plot, the interaction between the family and the final denouement when Leonora stands up for herself even at great personal cost.
I’m loving the Whickerton family, can’t wait until Christina’s story which follows next.
I thoroughly enjoyed Once Upon a Temptingly Ruinous Kiss by Bree Wolf! We are reacquainted with Lady Leonora, who was previously attacked at a masquerade ball. She's kept the attack a secret, only telling her sister and brother-in-law who were with her at the time. And, of course, Grandma Edie has guessed, because her intuition is never wrong. Leonora hasn't been able to overcome the nightmares, fear, and isolation that the attack has caused her. Integrating herself back into society is nearly impossible until she meets her brother-in-law's school friend, Drake Shaw, Marquess of Pemberton, also a recluse with secrets of his own. For some reason, Leonora is surprisingly comfortable with the Marquess of Pemberton, taking him into her confidence, and eventually asking that he train her in self-defense. They secretly meet for such training. Meanwhile, their time together brings a deeper friendship where secrets are traded, and even a kiss or two! A wonderful tale is woven, with intrigue, mystery of who the masked attacker is, intermingled with the antics of Leonora's 2 younger sisters as well as Grandma Edie. A true delight! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have freely given my honest opinion in this review.
Once Upon a Not at All Innocent Kiss (A Whickertons in Love Novella). This is the story of how the parents of the Whickerton's came to be married. This definitely gave some insight into Troy their oldest son's story that was in Once Upon an Accidentally Bewitching Kiss. Beatrice Hartley found herself pregnant by a horrible rake who had no intention of marrying her. Her parents planned to protect all of their reputations by marrying her to one of her father's friends. When she met the gentleman, she could sense his disapproval of her and she knew the marriage would be somewhat difficult. When she is crying in despair- a gentleman Charles Beaumont, Viscount Hawthorne steps in with an offer of marriage. Will she decide to follow her parents plans or allow Lady Whickerton (Grandma Edie and the mother of Charles) to arrange an elopement with her son?
I loved finding out how the parents of all the Whickerton children came to be together.
This was a sweet story.
I received a copy of this book form the author and this is my honest unbiased review.
Another lovely story by the talented Charlie Lane! The novella is filled with charm and romance and kept me captivated all the way through. Georgiana is an heiress and loves her independence and the thing she hates most is fortune hunters. In an effort to keep them at bay, she forms an unlikely partnership with her friend's brother-in-law, Josiah. Josiah is rarely in London and a fake courtship with him is the perfect solution to keep the fortune hunters away and also keep her independence. Josiah has no time to marry and is too busy managing his father's estates. He has no problem lending a helping hand to the lovely Georgiana when he finds himself back in London. Both are set on their own paths in life, however, they begin to realize it's a very lonely journey. What started out as a unique friendship and an effort to help each other turned into something so much more.
I absolutely loved the story of Josiah and Georgiana. They had such wonderful chemistry which was evident in the witty banter between them which was an absolute delight to read. A truly lovely addition to the Dare series!
I received a complimentary copy from Wolf Publishing and am voluntarily leaving my review.
The Whickertons fall fast and hard. Charles knows when he meets Beatrice he knows she's the one. Even though she is pregnant by someone else he steps right up to take care of them. She can't help but fallmin love with him.
When Charles Beaument, Lord Hawthorne, eldest son of Lord and Lady Whickerton, sees that Beatrice Hartley is upset at a ball, he steps into rescue Beatrice from a scandalous situation, falls in love with her, and puts the scoundrel who hurt her in his place. Beatrice is reluctant at first, but Lady Whickerton (Grandma Edith) helps move things along. Lovely story in the Whickerton family.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Short and steamy quick read. The characters are the brother and the bff of the couple from Daring Done Right. Dares are still flying and I absolutely loved this book. I read it straight through.
