She's the scandal he never planned for.
England 1803: Meet Lady Harriet Beaumont, known affectionately as "Harry" in the circles that dare speak her name with a chuckle. Daughter to the Earl of Whickerton, Harriet is a breath of fresh air—or a whirlwind of chaos, depending on whom you ask. A self-proclaimed spinster and savior of the animal kingdom, her heart is reserved for the wounded and the wild. From Sir Lancelot the rabbit to King Arthur, a parrot with a penchant for being called Biscuit, her life is a parade of rescued creatures. But her latest project is her most challenging yet: a two-legged, rather dashing specimen known as the Duke of Clements, whom she has cheekily dubbed Sweet Jack.
His world was orderly until her whirlwind arrived.
For Bradley Jackson, the Duke of Clements, life is a series of meticulously planned events. That is until he encounters a most peculiar lady in the woods. Lady Harriet, with her untamed spirit and disinterest in propriety, is an enigma wrapped in a riddle, turning his orderly world upside down. Tasked with selecting a suitable duchess, Bradley finds himself hopelessly distracted by the one woman who insists she will never wear the title.
A duke's dilemma: the woman who won't be won.
As Harriet continues to invade his space—and slowly, his heart—Bradley faces an unforeseen dilemma. How does one court a woman who is determined to remain unattached? With each passing day, the idea of anyone else by his side seems more absurd, yet the more he learns about Harriet, the more he realizes just how formidable a task winning her heart will be.
Rules for a perfect life: 1. Meet her. 2. Forget all other rules.
Caught between the pull of desire and the push of duty, Bradley and Harriet must navigate the complexities of their positions and their passions. Can a lady who vows never to marry and a duke desperate to claim her heart find a common ground? Or will Harriet's menagerie of misfits be the only hearts she's willing to mend?
This lady is not to be won, but to be reckoned with.

This has to be one of the wittiest stories I have read. Harriet is a hurricane that blows into “Jack’s” life without even a hint of warning! Bradley or Jack(cute nickname that drives him crazy) is a prim and proper duke who is flummoxed by Harriet’s bold nature. Watching them dance around each other is hilarious ! What was a little disappointing was this story seemed to be extremely long. I felt like some of the middle was just the same information said over and over. The climax was exciting and one detail was TOTALLY unexpected. Wonderful Wickerton characters abound and as always , Grandma Edie doesn’t disappoint. Lovely read!!
Impetuous, stubborn and wildly independent, Lady Harriet is determined to never lose her identity by submitting to marriage. However her love for mending hurt animals has found a new focus on the rigid, lonely Duke living next door to her sister. Bradley Jackson, Duke of Clements closed his emotions off many years ago, if ‘Harry’ bring him back to life, will her life change also?
I absolutely LOVED this book! Lady Harriet (Harry) follows Grandma Edie's suggestion to ride a different route one morning where she meets the Duke of Clements (Bradley Jackson/Jack). He's all prim and proper, and Harry is the complete opposite. What will happen when his caution and care to all things proper clashes with her spontaneous and uninhibited behavior? Lots of fun with a twist of danger! I enjoyed Harry's prodding Jack into different thought patterns, questioning his beliefs (will she go too far?); and, although Jack was tempted to turn away, he persisted in meeting, helping, and rescuing Harry. A few twists and Grandma Edie's scheming made it a fun read! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have given my honest opinion in this review.
Samuel Merriweather, Duke of Clearford, has decided to engage a matchmaker to help marry off his remaining unwed sisters. Lady Emma Blackford has come to London, with her sisters, to escape her tarnished reputation, and to be matchmaker for the duke’s sister.
He wrote a guide to courtship for gentlemen. She is a scandalized matchmaker from Scotland. Could there be a better match? Their sisters think not, regardless of their siblings wishes or ideas. Samuel and Emma are a perfect couple. The sisters think they need a nudge. Things are working out well until trouble arrives in the form of her father and an unwanted suitor. Problem? Yes, but nothing that can’t be taken care of with the accurate toss of a knife. This is a fun ending to an enjoyable series.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
I know this is the end of a series, but there are still 6 sisters left unmarried - that to me is a cliffhanger 😉. I enjoyed the story with a hero that who switches from confident to unsure several times. The heroine only has one goal - to keep her sisters safe from her gambling drunkard father. They meet because she does matchmaking and he needs help with one sister who had been jilted. There was steamy scenes but they were well written.
I enjoyed reading this conclusion to the Gentleman's Guide to Courtship series! Samuel, looking for a practical Ton marriage, hires Lady Emma for her matchmaking skills. I loved watching the love develop between these two. Marvelous read! I would recommend this as well as the previous books in the series.
I loved, loved, loved this series. In the final book, Emma is determined to start her life over in London. Samuel has a secret that could ruin his future wife, whoever that may be. This author writes with such creativity, humor and skill that once you pick up her book you don't stop until the very last period shows up on the page. Full of adventure, romance, excellent characters, stunning plot and more. Never let an opportunity pass you by to own or read her books.
Charlie Lane never disappoints. Dukes Court for Keeps pulled me into a beautifully written romance filled with longing, wit, and just the right amount of potential for scandal. The dynamic between the Duke of Clearford and Lady Emma Blackwood was both charming and emotionally rich, with moments of quiet intimacy that spoke louder than any grand declaration.
Beyond the romance, I also appreciated the layers of intrigue woven throughout the plot. A missing sister, a mysterious library, and a trip to Scotland all added a sense of adventure that kept me engaged without overwhelming the character-driven heart of the story. And, of course, the only one bed trope was executed perfectly, with just enough tension to make my heart race without feeling forced.
Overall, this is the kind of book that lingers in your mind after you turn the final page. It’s smart, romantic, and deeply satisfying—perfect for readers who love stories where love grows in stolen glances and unspoken words just as much as in grand gestures. Great end to a series!
I received an ARC from the publisher. This is my honest review.
