Her fall led her to him …
Lady Eugenie, the picture of propriety, faces an unforeseen scandal: she's unwed and expecting. In a world where fairy tales are mere childhood fantasies, no gallant hero appears on the horizon—until a most unexpected proposal comes from the Beast of Ravengrove himself.
From the shadows of regret, a hero emerges.
Rumored to roam his shadowy estate by night, the scarred, reclusive Adrian Brooks, Earl of Remsemere, offers Eugenie his name and protection. With no other options, she steps into the haunting halls of Ravengrove, bracing for a life of solitude beside a husband she cannot love. Yet, as the days unfurl, Eugenie discovers that the man behind the monstrous tales is more complex and compelling than she ever imagined.
Adrian, convinced he's beyond redemption and undeserving of love, finds himself irresistibly drawn to his new wife. Her gentle presence challenges his self-imposed exile from the world—and from the perilous terrain of love.
… together, they rise.
As their tentative friendship blossoms into something deeper, both must decide if they dare to believe in a storybook ending. Watch as the Beast of Ravengrove learns to live and love again, under the tender gaze of a lady who might just believe that every beast deserves a belle.

A fallen lady and her beastly lord proves to be a wonderful and emotion filled romance. Eugenie and Adrian learn to love again, a journey to a deserving happily ever after.
I love this series! I love the way that each book stands alone but that the time periods over lap, told by different points of view. This is Eugenie and Adrian's story. When Nessa is found a live and Grant is still married to her under the law, he must find a situation for his second wife, now that their married is considered void under England's law. Grant approaches his dear old friend, Adrian, and asks him to protect and marry Eugenie and take care of her and his unborn child. Grant is a tortured soul having survived a horrific fire eight years ago that took the lives of his whole family. Unable to stand the survivors' guilt, he joins the English army in the fight against France and finds his best friend, Emery. This book is the perfect blend of romance and suspense. I couldn't put it down!
To me, there is nothing more pleasing than being able to settle down to read a story and be lifted out of the seriousness of life into a world of love, romance and whatever else that particular book brings.
This one did it for me!
It took four characters who were plagued by some tragedy in each of their pasts and gave them lives worth living and along the way I laughed or cried and felt for each of them as the story came to life for me.
Not only is this one really well written, but it communicates on all levels and that is what a great story is about!
I loved every second of this book and highly recommend it as it flows straight to the heart!
I really loved this book, but of course I’m in love with each and every one of this author’s books. In this one I must confess that I related to Isabella so much! She’s somewhat of a control freak like me. And I totally understand that it’s hard to let it go. Actually, Rowan needed a woman who took control of his life and wrenched him from the shadows in which he was much too comfortable. He needed to be managed and he was! I really loved the side characters as well, because in Lane’s books they are always as gorgeously fleshed out as the main ones. And I especially loved the ladies, the old friends of the late Duchess, who are always helpful and funny. A gorgeous, five star read!!!
This has been such a wonderful series, and this has to be my favorite story yet! Isabella and Rowan are pure delight! The storyline is charming and the clever dialogue and banter between those two make for a most entertaining read. She is a Duke’s sister and he, a successful hotel owner, yet nevertheless a commoner. He could never be accepted by her world, but their hearts say otherwise. I was rooting for them all the way, and enjoying every page of their romance!
Rowan and Isabella’s story is a little strange for the time period and I completely enjoyed it. Well written with interesting characters and an outrageous plot. This story includes some fun bits and steam. Another fine addition to the series from this author.
This instalment covers the twins finding their futures while saving their brother from being blackmailed into marrying someone he does not love. Will Isabella be able to steal the evidence and accept gossip is not her whole life. Will Rowan realise what is in front of him & accept he is worthy of the place his adopted family have gifted him. I found this a really fun witty story. Isabella is quick of mind and saves the situation often, and the steam is also there between her and Rowan. Even the sneezing attacks was charming. Really enjoyed this story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love this series, A Gentleman's Guide to Courtship, not only for its ironically-named sub-title, but also for its humor and heart. The Duke of Clearford, creator of the "guide" has pretty much given up on advising potential suitors how to court his sisters. The first three are married, and now it's Isabella's turn. Like the others, she's not particularly interested in marriage--and why would she be when she already has so much freedom?
Rowan Haws is not interested in marriage either, but a potential business deal requires marriage, so he convinces Isabella to play the part of his wife. This ends with predictable results. The way that Isabella can bend the rules of society to pull off this deception is what I find especially surprising.
Lane’s books are always filled with laughs, clever dialogue, and intense sex scenes. Her complex characters always experience transformations. Isabella and Rowan are no exception. Isabella learns she can relinquish the need to control everything because Rowan will be there to keep her safe. Rowan, who had vowed not to marry, takes a bit longer to transform. He needs to see himself as worthy of Isabella and accept the love and acceptance that has been offered to him by his adoptive parents. Then, he needs to face his fears of rejection from the upper classes. Yes, some will reject him, but he doesn’t need their acceptance. Isabella and the very large extended family forming around her will accept him with open arms as soon as he stops hiding. And as long as he has her, he can withstand the disapproval from those who don’t matter.
